WAUSAU, Wis. (WAOW) – Many avid fishermen and lake lovers are reigniting their love for the water thanks to the new non-profit in Wausau ‘Let’s Go Fishing’. The group is taking people who are disabled, seniors, and veterans out on Lake Wausau to enjoy the water once again.
It gives people a chance to feel the tug of a fish, to smell the mist off the water, and enjoy the calm of being on the lake. All things some of these seniors and veterans haven’t done in years.
“Probably 25 to 50 years ago. I don’t know, it’s been a long time,” said Rita Falk of Rennes Health and Rehab Center in Weston.
For Rita and these seniors, it was good to be back.
“Our trip was absolutely wonderful. I can’t tell you (enough). It’s just a joy to be out. For one thing we’ve been so cooped up with the bad weather and the smog and everything,” said Falk.
